I’m a stickler for reading the book before I go and see a movie because I want to create the world in my head before someone shoves images in it for themselves.
I’m also a total “the book was better” person BUT, there are always exceptions to the rule, or at least series/movies that come close, and here are mine…
Reading the book, I was confused at how they’d manage to get all the different perspectives in to a movie format but they did it brilliantly. Not that it means much coming from me but the movie had me in tears as much as the book did (if only I hadn’t watched it on a flight…)
2. Perks of Being a Wallflower
I mean, as brilliant as I found the book, the movie did a fantastic job of capturing all those confusing teen coming-of-age emotions that make the story so special.
3. Harry Potter
Yeah yeah of course this was going to be on here. I grew up with the books and the movies, so they’ll always have a special place in my reader-heart 🙂 (Plus, watching Ron and Neville grow up…yes pls ♥♥♥)
Also a special mention to The Fault in our Stars (a book and movie I adore but breaks my heart), and also A Series of Unfortunate Events which I missed the boat on reading but loved the Netflix series of!
Are you a book-before-the-movie person, or do you not really care? Do you have any favourite adaptations? Let me know in the comments!
Also a reminder to feel free to join in on the Top 3 Thursday memes if you’re a blogger and/or reader! I love seeing everyone join in ♥
