Hello again,
Welcome back to your favourite weekly short list of book-related things I like… 😉
This week we’re looking at reasons we love to read (aka reasons I don’t understand non-readers…just kidding) ♥
There are so many things I could mention in this weeks post but I’ll stick with my top reasons below, for your reading pleasure.
1. I grew up on a diet of books
This might seem like a weird one, but to be honest I think one of the reasons I love reading so much is that I was lucky enough to be introduced to the right books, at the right time. To me, that’s a huge thing that kicks off people’s love of books, I was just lucky enough to have a Mum who adores reading too, and helped me find the books I loved from before I could even read.
I was like Matilda, only with a family that actually loved me and encouraged me to read – how lucky am I?! ♥
2. To learn, or to escape
The wonderful thing about books is that there are so many different types of stories kicking around the shelves that there’s always something to suit you.
Some days, I want to completely switch off, read some YA or some Women’s Fiction (Chick-Lit as a term shouldn’t be a thing), and get bundled up in a story of sweet characters light storylines, and love.
Other times, I delve in to books knowing they’ll probably make me uncomfortable, and from that discomfort part of me will grow or learn or change. Which is a pretty incredible thing for a dead tree and a bit of ink to be able to do for someone, don’t you think?
3. They help connect me with the people around me
It’s true – as solitary an act as reading can be, talking about them and discussing them can not only help me understand people but also just…enjoy people’s company a bit more.
I’ve been lucky to be surrounded by readers throughout the course of my life. My mum, my aunt, a handful of my school friends, the amazing Bookstagram community, and most recently the book club I joined with some amazing ladies I met through Frisbee. Readers really are everywhere 😉
And of course, you guys are all readers too, so thanks for being part of my reader’s community ♥ Even if the only reading you do is of this blog (Hi, Ciarán).

Definitely to escape, I find that I can cope with anxiety much easier when I’m reading. Also, just to imagine all those magical worlds and dream and little dream that they could come true.

I can never be sure why I love to read. I guess… words just make more sense to me than pictures. And I love stories with the added insight that books provide. You can really get to know a character. Also, I’m a sucker for a good prose and a unique idea.
