Top 3 Thursday: Summer Reads

Spring is here (although you wouldn’t know it with all the rain Sydney’s been having!) and we all know that Spring is the downhill slide in to a gorgeous, and damn hot, summer in Australia!

So today, in wistful dreams of warmer weather, we’re chatting about our top 3 summer reads. I’ve chosen to interpret this as light holiday reads I have loved (rather than books releasing this Summer).

Let’s dive in!

1. Firefly Lane – Kristin Hannah

I read this book last year and it was a fabulous read, and perfect for a summer holiday I’m sure (or cosied up by a fire for my Northern Hemisphere friends). It follows Tully and Kate through their turbulent friendship over the span of decades. Diving in to themes of love, loss, and friendship, this book has something for every contemporary literature lover.

2. The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency Series

Set in Botswana, this series always makes me feel full of warmth. Not only for it’s temperate setting, but also because I don’t think it’s physically possible to not feel warmed by the love and heart of Mma Ramotswe. She’s a character who has something to give everyone she meets, and I always adore falling back in to these books like wrapping myself in a tight hug of familiarity and friendship.

3. To Kill a Mockingbird – Harper Lee

I’m sure this book needs no introduction by now, as it’s firmly entrenched as an American Classic. The Alabama setting makes me think of summer, and it’s a good classic to pick up in the warmer months!

Writing this has made me long for lazy summer days spent reading – another reason to love Christmas ‘down under’! Roll on the Christmas Holidays!

What kind of books do you love to read while on holidays? I’d love to hear any recommendations down in the comments ♥

Until next week,

M xx
