Yoohoo!
Another month closer to Christmas you guys! That’s definitely how I see the months when we hit this part of the year, and I’m not even sorry 😉
I hit my yearly reading goal of 45 books this month, so I’ve upped it to 52 to see if I can finish with an average of one book a week in 2018! I’ve got 6 books to read in the next 2 months to hit that target so I’m quietly confident, and it will be the biggest reading year I’ve had since starting uni in 2010 I think…
But let’s focus on the last month of reading for now, hey?
Muse of Nightmares – Laini Taylor
After reading Strange the Dreamer earlier in the year and falling in love, I was doing a happy dance in my seat when I received a gorgeous review copy of Muse of Nightmares from Hachette.
It was a fantastic sequel to Strange, wrapping up loose ends and leaving my aching for a follow up series in the future!
You can read my full review here.
Verdict: Definitely a sequel worth reading if you liked Strange the Dreamer.
The Single Ladies of Jacaranda Retirement Village – Joanna Nell
This was a really lovely read, with a cast of hilarious and gorgeous characters. The new ‘UpLit’ genre this falls in to is fast becoming one of my favourites!
Full review of this novel here.
Verdict: An easy read with a heart of gold.
One Day in December – Josie Silver
I adored this book. A love story spanning over a decade is the stuff my romantic heart longs for, and this delivered 😉
My full review for this one can be read here.
Verdict: Romantic hearts that like something a little bit different from the cliche will enjoy this read.
A Spark of Light – Jodi Picoult
This one’s still fresh in the mind after my review on Monday! Not my favourite Picoult but an interesting read nonetheless.
Read my in-depth review here.
Verdict: Exploring the issue of abortion rights, this was an engaging read but not as gripping as other Picoult novels I’ve read.
The Astonishing Colour of After – Emily X.R. Pan
I really enjoyed this read and am grateful to those who recommended it to me! The fantasy-contemporary fusion was not what I was expecting when I picked it up, but it worked perfectly and I got completely sucked in to it.
Verdict: A gorgeous debut novel from Emily X.R. Pan (you can read my full review next week!)

A pretty good month all up, and I’m really happy to have hit my reading goal! In terms of my reading challenge I set myself to only read women or people of colour, I’m doing pretty well with that too having only read one male-authored book since I set the challenge in Feb! (And when one of your favourite teen series gets a new novel, can anyone really blame me?)
So, what did you guys read this month? Any 5-star reads?
M xx
