Happy May! We are living it up in Japan and loving exploring new places (and eating delicious food). We’ve got a bunch of time on trains lined up for our travel between cities, which has been a great way to unwind, and pick up a book or my knitting.
I’m interested to know how you pack books for travel – or do you use an e-reader only? I packed 2 light books, plus my (at the time) current read…and also my Kindle. Too much? 😛
Notes on a Nervous Planet – Matt Haig
I adored this book. It was a quick read, and a great book to dip in and out of between other reads due to it’s structure.
Matt Haig has such an informal way of writing, it makes you feel like you’re sitting down with him over coffee catching up on the world.
Verdict: A small but powerful book.
The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart – Holly Ringland
This book was so beautiful and heartbreaking. The characters had so much depth and Ringland writes so richly of the settings it makes you feel as though you are there with them.
Verdict: Heart-achingly beautiful, a definite recommended read.
One Of Us Is Lying – Karen M McManus
I had such a reading slump after finishing The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart, but this book was the perfect one to drag me out of it. It was a very easy read, and the murder-mystery element kept me intrigued throughout!
Verdict: An easy read to breeze through, recommended for a reading slump!
Wundersmith – Jessica Townsend
I really enjoyed Nevermoor so was very excited to pick this sequel up! It didn’t disappoint and I adored being back in the world of Nevermoor with Mog, Jupiter and Hawthorne (among many new faces!)
Verdict: A great sequel to Nevermoor.
