I don’t know what I was thinking about when I made this prompt for Top 3 Thursday, but I’m going to take it as the Top 3 Reading Habits I actually have, rather than my ideal Top 3 (which would revolve around being able to read books faster while still getting as much enjoyment out of them, so I could actually have a hope of getting through my ever-growing stack of books to read…)
Here we go!
1. Thinking about all the books I have to read, distracting me from the book I’m actually reading.
This one is especially prominent when I have library holds…because all the books I own get left to sit for even longer as I power through my library reads…then inevitably borrow more when I go to return the current ones. And so the vicious cycle continues…
2. Getting distracted & checking Bookstagram halfway through a reading session
Sometimes I like to see if anyone else is feeling the way I am about a book, so I go scrolling and then OOPS I’m down a rabbit hole and it takes me 20 minutes to climb back out and now I have to go to work so that was a good hour I spent reading those 5 pages okay.
3. Padding around my house to find the comfiest, warmest, and quietest spot.
If you were watching me like a Sim, you’d see me move from the bed to the couch, then take a pillow outside and sit on the steps, then come back in to the couch, then go lie down on the bed, then probably make a cup of tea and end up back on the couch. Of course, it’s hard to find a quiet spot in the house when our neighbour is screaming at her cats, my literal daily struggle (send help) (also, neighbour, I hope you see this and stop, the cats will never learn, but also they’re hella cute so just leave them be, hey?) (also your yelling scares our cat) (but so does everything).
What are some of your best & worst reading habits? I’d love to hear about them in the comments!
Until next week,
M xx
Checking Bookstagram has become a bane for my reading. 😅 Because whenever I sit down to read, I remember that I haven’t checked Insta in a while and boom, there’s goes my reading tube. 🙈

Why is your neighbour screaming at her cats? 😂 I’m always getting distracted by bookstagram too. So many pretty book photos to admire.

So true, bookstagram has lately emerged as the biggest villain disrupting my reading habit. It makes me jump then on to Goodreads to add more stuff to my ever increasing TBR. Phewww… !!!!!!!
